The discussions are anticipated to occur on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, as Ukraine intensifies its offensive on Russia’s energy resources.
Recent developments saw Ukrainian forces launching a significant attack on Russia’s Moscow region, reportedly targeting a major oil refinery, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals. The attacks have prompted Trump to express concerns about their impact on global energy supplies, urging an end to the ongoing hostilities that he claims are exacerbating worldwide energy shortages.
Zelenskyy indicated that negotiations are in progress, with proposals being considered to alleviate tensions. He emphasized that Ukraine seeks assurances that its own energy facilities, critical infrastructure, and food exports will no longer be targeted by Russia.
