Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has advocated for revitalized relations between Türkiye and the United States, emphasizing the importance of enhanced dialogue and cooperation during a time of global conflicts and crises. Speaking at the “100 Years of Friendship Gala” in New York, Erdoğan underscored the beneficial outcomes of the two NATO allies’ collaboration on various international matters, particularly in the Middle East.
Erdoğan outlined potential areas for expanded cooperation, including nuclear energy, liquefied natural gas, civil aviation, high technology, and the defense sector. He called for the elimination of barriers that hinder joint defense production, reflecting Türkiye’s ambitions in the defense industry. Notably, the country’s defense exports have surged from approximately $248 million two decades ago to over $10 billion, positioning Türkiye as a rising player on the global defense stage.
The Turkish leader further encouraged U.S. investors to explore opportunities in Türkiye, highlighting a new investment initiative framed by competitive incentives. Erdoğan’s appeal is part of a broader effort to strengthen economic ties and attract foreign capital to the nation.
U.S. Senator Chris Coons also addressed the gathering, underscoring the enduring partnership between the two countries. He highlighted the significant role of business connections and entrepreneurship in bolstering bilateral relations. The event, attended by senior officials and business leaders from both nations, celebrated the longstanding diplomatic and economic ties between Türkiye and the United States.
