Elizabeth Warren Questions JPMorgan CEO About Ties to Jeffrey Epstein

Must read

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren has called on JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon to shed light on the bank’s previous interactions with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender. Her request comes amid intensified scrutiny of past communications that have surfaced, raising questions about the bank’s historical dealings with Epstein.

In her letter, Warren specifically inquired whether Dimon or JPMorgan had ever sought or received advice from Epstein during their lobbying efforts against a proposed UK tax on bankers’ bonuses. This inquiry is sparked by newly released documents, including a 2009 email that mentions discussions involving Epstein, former UK minister Peter Mandelson, and JPMorgan.

JPMorgan has consistently denied any inappropriate relationship with Epstein. The bank asserts that Dimon never had any meetings with Epstein and was not involved in any decisions related to his accounts. Further, JPMorgan states that it terminated its banking relationship with Epstein in 2013 and insists it would not have continued to engage with him had it been aware of his ongoing criminal activities.

Despite JPMorgan’s assertions, these recent developments have reignited questions about its past connections to Epstein. The bank remains firm in its position, declaring any claims that Dimon consulted or communicated with Epstein to be false.
