In a significant diplomatic effort, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed participated in a high-level phone call with US President Donald Trump and other regional leaders to address the ongoing conflict with Iran. The conversation aimed to enhance security and stability within the Gulf region amid escalating tensions.
The leaders discussed diplomatic initiatives to de-escalate the situation and promote regional cooperation. Among those involved in the call were Bahrain’s King Hamad, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, and Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir.
This dialogue follows indications from the United States of potential progress in negotiations with Iran, with officials hinting that an agreement might be near. The prospect of a diplomatic resolution comes as a relief to nations in the Gulf, which have been facing repeated missile and drone attacks attributed to Iran since the conflict erupted on February 28.
Although a temporary ceasefire had previously halted hostilities, recent attacks have heightened concerns about regional security. The ongoing instability underscores the importance of these diplomatic efforts to foster peace and cooperation among the involved nations.
